I'm a late in life fempreneur. In 2021 after a 30+ year career in the corporate world I turned my focus to what I love - mentoring and empowering women. I work with women from as far away as southern Africa (online) to right here in Hamilton (sometimes out of our fabulous coffee shops and venues where I host in-person workshops) who want to get unstuck. I believe the most valuable real estate that a woman owns is her psyche and her agency, so we work together to understand and unpack the stories we tell ourselves.
As a well-versed global citizen I have seen what a thriving art scene does for people. I have lived on three continents, in two hemispheres and called five different cities home. In each place I have explored local artists and artisans. Art, in many forms, has also traveled with us from one home to the next, creating a wonderful history of experiences. The memories of curious exploration are a delightful reminder of a life lived.
I moved to Hamilton with my husband in 2017 because we love the creative heart of this city. There is art (mostly very accessible) everywhere you look.

When she’s not meeting homeowners to provide a CMA (current market analysis) for their home, Meltem is soaking up everything that Hamilton has to offer. As a REALTOR®, she knows the city of Hamilton and surrounding areas have something for everyone and she loves helping her clients find their new home in the perfect neighbourhood. Meltem believes in the power of Community. Through her enthusiastic and ongoing participation in community events like Hamilton GlowRiders, Art Crawl, and Jane’s Walk and generous sponsorship and support of community organizations and events such as Hamilton Fempreneurs, Durand Garden Tour, and Kirkendall Food Drive. As current vice-president and past president of the Kirkendall Neighbourhood Association, she has been an advocate for her community since moving from Toronto back to her hometown of Hamilton nearly two decades ago. Mel is always looking for opportunities to be a participant, supporter and champion of her local community. Mel believes in the power of Music. Living with two musicians has made her keenly aware of the power of music to shape our mood, mindset, and the way we see the world. She has been a supporter of numerous music events including concerts by the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Hamilton All Star Jazz Band. Mel believes in the power of Art. She is a collector of many works by local artists and a sponsor for the creation of public works of art including the Dogs of Durand mural at Durand Coffee. She is always eager to support and celebrate the art scene in Hamilton.
After being on the Art Circuit bus last year, Meltem knew that it was a very unique and special event that deserved to be a regular happening and she’s excited to be a host and community sponsor of this year’s Art Circuit.
