Please reach us at mary@backalleygallery.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes. If you have both 3D work and 2D work you’d like to submit, we’re happy to receive two submissions from you, but please note that each show requires its own submission fee. If the jury likes both your submissions, you may end up being invited to exhibit in both shows.
Yes. Each submission fee of $25 allows you to submit 1-3 works.
Each submission allows for up to 3 works maximum per submission fee of $25. If you have additional pieces you’d like to submit, you must re-submit a new form and provide another submission fee for up to another 3 works.
At this time, we only accept submissions showcasing completed work, however, we understand that art takes time and you may not have a piece ready for submission now, which is why we consider all submissions to be a representation of your work and if you’re invited to exhibit, you’ll have an opportunity to resubmit more recent work for review prior to exhibition (at no extra cost). If you’re still working on new pieces, think of your submissions as an example of what you can do and how you express yourself as an artist, and rest assured you’ll have an opportunity to present new work when you’re accepted into the show(s).
Submissions are open for both shows until August 1st 2024.
Nope, sorry! We’re only accepting digital submissions via our website at this time.
Yes, you’re welcome to share any of your work that is currently unmounted/unframed for jury review and include the current dimensions of the work without any additional dimensions a frame would add. Be sure to follow submission guidelines on the submission form that indicate how your work should be cropped to the canvas/paper size without any background showing. Be prepared to mount your work or have it framed for the show if you’re invited to exhibit. Loose work on paper cannot be safely displayed or mounted at the Cotton Factory venue. We welcome unique forms of framing/display/hanging methods, as long as the work can be hung or mounted to the wall professionally.
Unfortunately, no. To be fair to all applicants and participants, all submissions must be accompanied by the $25 fee to be considered for exhibition.
Yes, digital work is accepted as long as it was created from your own mind using digital media devices or softwares. If you’re submitting digitally-created works from Procreate or Sketchpad, just be ready to have these works printed and mounted for exhibition in the event that you’re selected to exhibit. Include the final dimensions of your printed work in your submission form, and keep in mind any possible framing/mounting/plaquing that will add to the final dimensions. A.I.-generated works are not permitted.
The measurements of the door frame at The Back Alley Gallery are 47" wide x 81" tall. Your piece will need to fit through that door frame. At the Tell Me A Story show, your piece should be no larger than 70" x 50"
Sorry, all work must be available for sale.
