Susan Barton-Tait

Susan Barton-Tait is a multi disciplinary artist living in Hamilton, Ontario. She was born in New Brunswick, and has lived across Canada and in the United States. Susan graduated from Queen’s University, attended the University of Iowa, University of Manitoba, and the Banff School of Fine Arts to further her art education. She has been an educator, a mentor, an art juror, and operated an art gallery. Barton-Tait has participated in solo, group and touring exhibitions, and has received awards to continue her work from granting agencies. Her artwork is held in public and private collections.

Susan Barton-Tait creates structure and tranquility in her art practice by examining fragility, impermanence and repetition in daily life. She thrives by interlacing fibres in solutions and suspensions using simple technologies. Working with her hands inspires her creative process. It provides the intimate pleasures of transforming materials and triggers the serendipitous discoveries that emerge during the process.
