Sylvia Elliott

Sylvia's artwork is included in collections in many countries and she has won several awards. She has exhibited her art in both solo and group shows. Sylvia is a member of the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists, Red Schoolhouse Gallery (Ferndale), Owen Sound Artists' Co-op Gallery, Southampton Arts and the Milkweed Collective (Toronto). She has organized and curated art shows for Sources of Knowledge at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre in Tobermory. Sylvia lives with her husband and dog by the shores of Lake Huron.

I am currently working, playing and having fun with mixed media collage and the addition of either cold wax or encaustic. During the process of recombining images and materials, I make decisions based on colour, shape, flow and welcome the contribution that 'serendipity' plays in the outcome. The layering allows me to simultaneously reveal and conceal and ultimately bring cohesion to disparate parts, creating a new whole - in a sometimes surprising, sometimes challenging, sometimes beautiful way.
