Throughout my life, I have always been passionate about creating art, whether it's through cooking, creative gardening, or interior decorating. Now, in my retirement, I am finally delving into watercolour painting and loving the challenge! I reside in Owen Sound, but I spend most of my time in the Bruce Peninsula. Many of my paintings are inspired by the landscapes of the peninsula, featuring its fiery sunsets, turquoise waters, and stormy waves. I am a member of the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists and The Redschool House Gallery in Ferndale. My artwork has been showcased in various galleries including the Durham Gallery, The Owen Sound Artist Co-op, the Bruce County Museum, and The Redschool House Gallery. I feel honoured that my artwork has found its way into homes across different states and provinces.
I despise waste! Throughout my life, I've believed that everything has a purpose and can be repurposed, whether it's found objects, clothes, furniture, or art. Repurposing, or giving something new life, excites me as I explore the possibilities it offers.
Similar to repurposing, painting in watercolour excites my mind! I am an inquisitive painter. I enjoy experimenting with colour and texture and often ask myself, "What will happen if I add this colour or create this texture?" "What if I use something other than a paintbrush?"
My curiosity about paint and texture has led to many "oops" and "aha" moments; both have provided material for creating new works through collage. I am thrilled that by repurposing or giving new life to earlier works, I can create such exciting new art. I am enthusiastic when the result yields an "aha" moment, and I am optimistic that my "oops" will provide more material for me to repurpose.
I hope you enjoy the "aha" moments as much as I do.
